Multimillionaire, Steven Beard fell for the younger, attractive waitress who worked at his country club.   Soon he and Celeste were married. When Steve calls 911 and is discovered in his bedroom shot in the stomach, suspicion falls on Celeste’s friend, Tracey.  Months later Tracey implicates Celeste.

We will be going over the movie made about this case and then the true story behind it.

The movie is Secrets of a Gold Digger Killer. It’s a 2021 Lifetime Movie, Starring Julie Bentz, Eli Gabay and Roan Curtis.  It can be found on Lifetime and is available to rent on Amazon Prime.

This was the case that became central to the battered women’s movement. It turned the national attention to cases like Francine’s where women were brutalized by their husbands, and to help women like her through a system of life-saving shelters and laying the foundation for a modern awareness of domestic violence.

Raynella Dossett Leath



Raynella Dossett Leath was accused of killing two husbands.  The first one was ruled an agricultural accident.  After the death of her second husband due to a gunshot wound to the head, they took a second look at the first husband’s death and she was eventually charged in that as well.  There are some fascinating developments and some jaw dropping surprises along the way.  After the main feature, there are historical newspaper clips read about other “Black Widows” from 1909 to 2003.

Sueppel Family Murders



Between the evening of March 23rd and March 24th, 2008, Steven Sueppel murdered his wife and four children. We go over this case and talk about other family annihilators. After the main story there is historical newspaper accounts going back to 1926, of other family murder/suicides.

Jealousy was the Motive



This episode involves a young couple, Andrew Saunders and Zoe Morgan, who had the whole world ahead of them.  They break up and Andrew can’t let go. When Zoe starts seeing another man, Lee Simmons, Andrew starts to make threats.  It ends in murder and three lives are destroyed, two of them forever.
